JESSYE BOULTON / FOUNDER & MAKER



Carnwear was founded by knitwear designer/maker Jessye Boulton in 2021. Jessye grew up near Penzance, Cornwall and studied fashion knitwear and knitted textile design at Winchester School of Art, graduating with a 1st Class Hons in 2018. Drawn back to Penzance, Carnwear came about organically as Jessye continued to developed her practice after her degree. With a passion for sustaining a hands on and craft based approach to knitwear design, Jessye has developed Carnwear with a commitment to honouring artisanal practices, with local production and considered design at the brand's core.

Jessye is continaully inspired by the dratic, rugged coastlines and raw, untouched moorlands of the surrounding landscape of West Cornwall. The colours, patterns and textures evident in Carnwear collections are often subtly reflective of these natural surroundings and a respect for the spaces and places we inhabit influence the way Jessye chooses to produce and create the Carnwear range.

Alongside running Carnwear, Jessye works as a freelance knitwear designer, creating bespoke knitted costume pieces for film, TV and theatre. You can see examples of these projects on the commissions page.
